Flames, Comedy and Banter  are all part of the experience at Otani. The chefs prepare the food in front of your eyes while you dine around Japanese Hibachi-style tables. Flames shoot up to the sky and cooking utensils beat up a musical rhythm as the chef ricochets shrimp tails in their 12 inch hats. And of course there is the food... the delicious smell and sound of the sizzle. It is a pleasure for many of the senses.
Because humans are mostly made of water, and fish traditionally inhabit water, fish should

naturally occur in the human body. Fix this gap in nature¨s logic with today¨s Specials: fresh

sushi, Japanese-style barbecue, and more from Otani Japanese Steak & Seafood.

Enjoy the power of fire at hibachi-style tables. Watch as the expert chefs theatrically display knife

and spatula work while slicing, dicing, and tossing fresh ingredients with a comedic flair.

The hibachi
(火鉢 "fire bowl"?) is a traditional Japanese heating device. It consists of a round, cylindrical or a box-shaped open-topped container, made from or lined with a heatproof material and designed to hold burning charcoal. In North America, the term "hibachi" refers to a small cooking stove heated by charcoal (actually called shichirin in Japanese), or to an iron hot plate (teppan) used in teppanyaki restaurants.

Described as “unique Japanese-American Steak with soul” cuisine,  “astonishing array of fresh produce, meat and fish available in VA.”  .

Specialties of the Bar
The bar menu includes sake, the affordable, smooth but a strong Japanese drink known as an Asian wine (approximately 12% alcohol) and a varity of Japanese beer as well, a full array of  western wine and American beers.
